A doll depicting Saint Barbara. From Mechelen, Belgium, c. 1500 - 1510 CE. Walnut, original Brussels polychromy. These Mechelen dolls enhanced the ‘walled gardens’ of Mechelen, next to sachets containing relics, paper flowers and other decorations.
