I completed my MA in Assyriology at the University of Copenhagen, but I have since broadened my interests to ancient literature more generally, and I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Comparative Literature at Aarhus University.
My PhD project is on the invention of authors. The oldest literature known to us is entirely anonymous, so why did this change? Who are the first known authors, and why did the ancient scribes suddenly begin to care about the person behind the text?
Besides authorship, I am particularly interested in the genre of epics: both the epics of ancient Iraq, like the Babylonian account of king Gilgamesh, and epics as a genre that recurs across many cultures and historical periods.
