This exceptionally crafted belt belonged to an ancient noble from Colchis, which is today located in Georgia. It was found in Vani, which is located in the Imereti region of western Georgia, in burial no. 24 and dates from the end of the 4th century BCE. Both ends of the belt are graced by figures of mythical sphinxes, which perhaps denotes artistic influence from ancient Greece. (Georgian National Museum, Tbilisi)
