Illustration
Floor of a house in the Punic city or Kerkouane (modern-day Tunisia) decorated with primitive mosaic pavements, one of which figures the Punic goddess Tanit. Kerkouane was founded during the Punic period, perhaps in the 5th century BCE. The remains constitute the only example of a Phoenicio-Punic city to have survived.
