Rheinisches Landesmuseum Trier — The Rheinisches Landesmuseum is Trier's largest and best-known museum. It offers a comprehensive collection documenting the civilisation, economy, settlements, religion and art of the first four centuries CE, emphasising the Roman past of Augusta Treverorum. Among the most impressive artefacts are massive funerary monuments from Neumagen-Dhron with lively scenes of everyday life, splendid mosaics from the Roman imperial palace, and the world's largest hoard of Roman gold ever found (with 2650 aurei).
