This is an archaeological guide of the Sounion area n Athens, Greece. The editor artfully weaves the ancient stories and history of Sounion with the former and present topography of the area. Sounion was thought to be holy by Homer as he mentioned in his "Odyssey",y 278. In fact the Temple of Poseidon, the great god of the sea, rests on the top of this area. Also illustrated are the large and small Temples of Sounias and the near by fortress wall. Statues and construction carvings which have been found at the site are discussed and shown with photographs. It's a very fascinating trip back in historical time.
