This volume contains the transactions of a conference organized around the image of King Solomon. Idealized in the Book of Kings, the figure of the son of King David - illuminated sovereign, builder of the Temple - has deep roots in the imagery of the ancient Near East, notably in Mesopotamia, and at the same time displays a long afterlife in the Quran and Arabic literature, from the Maghreb to Turkey, Iran, India and Central Asia, while Jewish and older Christian traditions can be found in Aramean, Coptic, Ethiopian, Georgian and Syriac sources.
