The Ancient Rome CD offers the opportunity to walk, and sometimes fly, through 12 of the city's most impressive buildings by way of 3-D virtual reality reconstructions. Time lapse dissolves allow direct comparison of the modern site with the reconstructed version for many locations. The designs are based on archaeological research and historical descriptions, some of which are used to narrate the presentations. There are also hypertext descriptions providing background information on each site and its section of the city. The buildings include: Palatine Huts, Temple of Capitoline Jupiter, Basilica Aemilia, Theater of Pompey, Forum of Augustus, Temple of Mars Ultor, Circus of Caligula, Colosseum, Domus Aurea, Domus Flavia, Baths of Caracalla, and the Basilica of St. Peter.
