Essays discussing the analysis of burial material in identifying characteristics of regional, ethnic, political and economic differences and ritual practices. The contributions are concerned with the use of computer analyses for the study of chronological, territorial and social structure; the trend towards the reinterpretation of old excavations; and the growing importance of the study of family groups, social organisation, and political structures. The papers encompass both theoretcial and methodological aspects of burial archaeology.
