This well-illustrated volume describes and interprets the architectural building work of the Asia Minor city of Milet during the early and middle imperial period (c.30-140 AD). This decoration is then used as a means to date phases of construction. Following a presentation of the types of monument and stonework that can be found, the study then places them within their architectural and regional context. The book concludes with a fully illustrated catalogue of many individual elements, including column bases and heads, arches and friezes.
