William Everton Heitland (1847-1935) was a celebrated Classicist and fellow of St John's College, Cambridge, from 1871 until his death. In this second volume of his masterpiece trilogy, originally published in 1909, Heitland examines Rome as an Imperial Republic from 201 BC until the death of Sulla in 78 BC.
