Bronze Head of Hypnos — The personifications Hypnos (sleep) and Thanatos (death) were either considered the sons or nurslings of Nyx (Night). This head is one of many versions of the same original. Hypnos appears with Thanatos on Classical vases, especially, lekythoi, but is rare in sculpture until the late Classical/Hellenistic periods. From Civitella d'Arna near Perugia. Roman copy of a Greek original of about 325-275 BCE.
